Kelsey & Will Wedding & Dinner, May 24, 2015

New beginnings what does that mean to us? We wake up each morning and we may look forward to a day with more to do than we can possible get done, we may face a day with minor chores or perhaps maybe nothing planned at all. There is one thing you can say for sure you have awaken to a day of new beginnings. You may have never looked at it that way before but when you think about it that is what you face - a new beginning. Our new beginning today May 24, 2015 was to learn what the weather had in store for us rain or what. The decision had been made to move the wedding indoors but still we would loved to have had a day, this day especially, without rain. Today one of the new beginnings would be a family would gain a new son-in-law and another would gain a new daughter-in-law. Will would gain a wife and Kelsey would gain a husband and together they will have a new beginning as a family and a select few of us will have the privilege to witness this blessed event. It is a blessed event because the marriage of one man to one woman is ordained by God. I thank God I got to see it. As previously documented in the posting on the rehearsal the marriage will take place in the Dresser Mansion. The following photographs cover some of the people and events and are contributed by number of people.

As this very special weekend approached all of us were keeping an eye and ear on the local news and weather because the weather has had all our attentions the last few days. The many outbreaks of tornado's, heavy rain, hail and flooding has had us all on edge. Now as we approach the morning of May 23, 2015 we do so with much anticipation and at the same time worry as to what the weather is going to be today and tomorrow. Today's wedding rehearsal is at 10:00 A. M. at the Dresser Mansion, 235 West 18th, Tulsa, OK. Since the wedding is planned for out side in the courtyard of the Dresser Mansion the rehearsal will be conducted outside where everything is all set up and ready to go. But and that is a big but the weather is looking more and more like it will be rain at the time of the wedding so to be on the safe side they will also do a rehearsal on the inside.

First lets learn a little about the Dresser Mansion. Carl Dresser was an oil man. It was designed by New York City architect Albert Joseph Bodker, the Carl K. Dresser House is a multi-story, stucco dwelling. It was constructed in 1919-1920, the house is an excellent representation of the Spanish Eclectic style in Tulsa. Located south of downtown Tulsa, the Dresser House is located in the historic Riverview neighborhood and was historically one of two houses on the block. Originally an exclusive neighborhood for Tulsa’s society, primarily oil tycoons. It has a massive fireplace and an open-beam wood ceiling and there are many arched windows. It is a three-story building. The Dresser home is an excellent example of a mansion built with Tulsa's early oil well money. The house is 9,100-square-foot plan that provides for 7,000 square feet of living space, while the remainder is devoted to storage and the three-car, heated garage. The ceilings are 10 feet high throughout the house. If held inside the wedding would be in the living room, approximately 18 by 30 square feet. A massive fireplace rests against the north wall. Downstairs is the library and the bar which is in dilapidated condition, although it still has its original copper sink and walnut counter. On the third story there are five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The house has many beautiful stained glass windows and magnificent wood work and ceilings with a lot of stucco throughout. This will be a beautiful place to hold a wedding.

Carl K. Dresser House is on the National Register of Historic Places.
