This posting is the 2nd C in God's Eternal Plan - Corruption which covers Man's disobedience to God's command and bringing sin into a perfect world.

Rejection Of God's Word Led To Corruption

In this posting we will look at the second C, Corruption. It all started when the first man, Adam, disobeyed the Creator bringing death and corruption into the creation. His disobedience explains the catastrophes, disease, suffering, and death in the present world. In Romans 5:12 we see " By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin ".

In my last posting we saw that God created every thing including man and women and placed them in the Garden of Eden. The obvious question did they stay there and if not why did they leave such a paradise? We find the answer to this question and more in Genesis 2: 16 - 17 where we read " And the Lord commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die ". Some translation say " of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil ". Underscore added for emphasis. Most people will tell you the fruit was an apple but it was not. It was an actual fruit of that tree. We have no idea what it looked like, what it tasted like but we know that by eating this forbidden fruit sin, suffering and death were brought into a perfect world.

We have heard this account over and over and to me, at least, it still strikes me like a thunder bolt that in the photograph above they are both pure and naked and didn't know the difference because they were pure and sinless but in the next instance after they ate the fruit that all changed as we see in Genesis 3: 7 " And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked: and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons ".  In the following verses they heard the voice of the Lord calling them and they hid in the trees. Remember God walked with them in the cool of the evenings with them. God continued to call Adam and finally Adam answered and  told God he hid because he was naked and afraid. God asked him how did you know you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree I told you not to eat? Adam told God the woman you gave me gave the fruit to me and I ate it. God asked Eve what have you done? Eve told God the serpent beguiled her ( deceived ) and she ate the fruit. We find in Genesis 3: 14 God told the serpent " Because thou hast done this, thou are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust thou shall eat all the days of thy life ". Thus because of sin God placed a curse on His creation as the following photograph explains.

God was gracious and loving toward man even though he disobeyed him. In Genesis 3:21 we find that the Lord made garments of skin for Adam and Eve and he clothed them. Don't you remember Adam and Eve when they sinned they realized they were naked so they fashioned coverings from fig leaves to cover themselves. Earlier we saw that the punishment for sin was death so God killed animals to make clothing for Adam and Eve. I find it interesting that the penalty for sin is death for all living things. Those animals God killed did not do anything wrong but because of man's sin death was by necessity into the world. You have to realize that the shedding of these animal's blood sin could not cover or take away man's sin. Later, we will see that God sent His Son into the world to shed his blood to cover our sins.

I would like to add a thought here about why Adam and Eve were sent from the Garden of Eden. Sure it was because they disobeyed God's command and ate of the fruit of the Tree Of Knowledge of good and evil. But there was a second reason that we seem to overlook and it is found in Genesis 3: 22 through 24 which reads as follows: " 22: And the Lord God said, Behold the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live for ever: 23:  Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24: So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life ".  It appears the Tree of Life also had a fruit.

When Adam and Eve were banished from the lush Garden of Eden the following photographs show some of what they saw and had to learn to live with and deal with. When you really stop to think about what you see in the next 50 or so photographs and imagine you in Adam and Eve situation coming from paradise and how it would impact you and how it must have impacted them. The Bible is silent about the conversation between Adam and Eve after being expelled from the Garden of Eden but I suppose those would have been the first arguments between man and wife. I can just imagine how the blame game got started between the two of them.

Just Can't Get My Mind Around. Can You Imagine The Startling Changes Adam And Eve Faced. One Day They Did Not Have A Worry In The World In Fact They Did Not Know What Worry Or Fear Was. It is Obvious That God Wanted His Creation And Man To Survive And The Native Ability, Learning And Reasoning Power God Gave To Man Enabled His Survival Howbeit It Rough.

Before we move on to the next posting about the next C  ( Catastrophe ) we have to back up a little and discuss the killing of animals as sacrifices for man's sin.  You have to realize that the shedding of these animal's could only temporarily cover man's sins. Later God would send His Son into the world to shed His blood for our sins and that shedding of his blood was sufficient to satisfy an infinite God. You recall throughout Israel's history the high priest would annually go into the Holy of Holies and place blood of a sacrificed lamb on the altar for the remission of the sins of Israel. This had to be done each year to cover sins committed since the last sacrifice. In Hebrews 9:22 we see " and according to the law almost all things are purified with blood and without the shedding of blood there is no remission".  this is why Jesus had to come to earth. Looking from man's point of view of history it is asked but what about all those people who lived millions and millions ago. Here again the idea of millions and millions of years comes from looking at the same layers of rock. According to man's knowledge these rock layers were laid down slowly over millions of years. But from the biblical point of view what big event do you think of when you look at rock layer? I am sure you have all seen them just as you drive down the highway and you see where they have cut down through the hill to  make way for the road. You can distinctly see the different rock layers. As I have traveled the United States and walked through our wonderful National Parks I have been able to up close see these beautiful and spectacular rock layers. The answer is the flood of Noah's day. Years ago people started looking at this from a different point of view and said " lets leave the bible out of this discussion ".  Do you see anything wrong about this proposal?  Well the answer is that when you leave the bible out of the discussion you automatically leave God out of the discussion. That presents a major problem because God is the ultimate authority and this placed man in the position of ultimate authority. Now you can see where the problem comes from. have you ever sat around and watched rock layers form? No you have not and you think why this could take millions of years. there you have it by man's authority that rock layers were formed over millions of years. These are just wild speculation without any basis in fact to back them up. Now here is where Christians made a terrible mistake instead of sticking to what the bible teaches and taking the Word of God and in fact God as the ultimate authority they tried to stick or fit millions of years into the bible. The problem they ran into as previously discussed the age of the earth has pretty well been established as around 6,000 years old. When you look closely at and within those 6,000 years there are numerous event and personalities that are firmly documented and accounted for and there is just no way to work in millions of years. Yet, the effort was and is continuing as some theologians who said well maybe there were millions of years before time began. That did not happen because God invented time. Not giving up they came up with what they called the " gap theory " where they make a gap between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 and you stick the millions of years in there. Next is a theory they call the " progressive creation/day age theory " where the the evolutionists spread the millions of years out over the six days. You see this is where by man's authority theistic evolutionists accept part of the bible and insert their ideas. It works like this, You accept that Day 1 and Day 2 are 24 hour days BUT between them you insert a few hundred thousand years. You continue to go through and between the 6 days and insert hundreds of thousands years here and there. How any intelligent person could believe this I can't comprehend except to acknowledge that they do not accept God as the ultimate authority. Now in the case of the strict evolutionist they just throw out early Genesis and pick up with the history of Abraham. They do this all because of man's idea about rock layers and he has to reinterpret the bible to fit his ideas. There are many practical problems in the differences between millions of years and biblical creation. To name just a few in biblical creation you have the earth created before the sun. In millions of years you have dry land before the seas. In biblical creation you have the sea before dry land. In millions of years you have the atmosphere before the seas. In biblical creation you have the seas before the atmosphere. You see the logical way God created works and this comparison can go on and on but this gives you an idea of the striking differences. The millions of years ideas make no sense and are not logical.

In summation of this idea of millions of years you have " Progressive Creation ", " Gap Theory ",       " Theistic  Evolution ", and other compromise ideas and positions and all of them being forced into the bible. The millions of years idea would have the world filled with pain, death, killing, thorns, disease, struggles, suffering and extinction. So remember what we found in Genesis 1:31, " Then Gad saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day ". So if you fit the millions of years idea into the bible that would be having God say that death, pain, suffering and all the things enumerated previously were not only good but very good.

Now this brings up a very serious problem we as Christians face when we are confronted with natural disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunami, or other events like 9-11 and people ask " why would God allow these things to happen? " why did God make the world like this? " and we say " I don't know I just can't deal with it". Well we have to deal with it and acknowledge that God made a perfect world and man messed everything up by sin. Remember sin brought in death, suffering and pain. We need to go back to the bible and be prepared to point out the truth. We find in Romans 5:12 " therefore just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and this death spread to all men because of sin ". Part of this truth is that man needs to acknowledge his sin and accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior,  Sure Adam and Eve sinned and brought sin into the world but we can't blame them because each of us has sinned in the past, present and will sin in the future. This does not mean that we are being punished because of our sins it simply means that because of sin God's perfect creation was corrupted and that allowed these bad things to start happening. hey happen to good people as well as bad.

So to summarize the discussion on corruption we find that corruption explains why we sin and why we wear cloths. It explains why there is death and why we need a saviour. Also, we learn why we need a new heaven and a new earth. Corruption explains why we suffer,toil in work, and pain in child birth.

Until then remember That God Loves you so much that he sent His Son Jesus to live a sinless life and to die on the cross for each of us so that if we will confess our sins and receive him as our saviour we will live with Him in Heaven for ever and I also love you.
