Genesis 1:31
"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (New International Version-NIV)

Herbert Hoover Presidential Library & Museum, 10/18/2014, Post 2

This morning I had a wonderful breakfast at Reid's Beans, Coffee Shoppe Cafe, Located At 106 East Main Street, West Branch, Iowa. Jonathan Blundall & Laura Aierson are the owners and chefs. The cafe is next to the historic site and the museum. I highly recommend it if you are in the area and they serve other meals than breakfast.

Before we go inside the Presidential Library and Museum lets look at some of the beautiful trees on the grounds.

Mining equipment see below. As a child growing up on the farm I often used a carbide light exactly like this when I went fishing at night. Something that most people did not know was that if you had gas coming out of the lamp and you held you hand over the reflector shield and let the gas build up under your hand then you rapidly removed your hand striking the flint it you make an loud noise light a fire cracker.

Plaque. Considering the strong Friend religious background I found it strange that they had this statue here but then I realized the strong connection the Belgium people felt to President Hoover  and especially his efforts to feed the starving people would want to honor him. Note the appearance of a veil the artist sculptured over the head.

Believe it not I am finally caught up on my postings for 2014. It has been a marvelous year of seeing God's beautiful great creation and the many, many interesting places I have seen. I do have some specific travel plans for 2015 the Lord willing so stay tuned for what all may come about.Until then remember what I always say God loves you and so do I.

  1. Dad, You visited this area at a very beautiful time of year. You like each of these Presidents has a story to tell about all the places you have lived, things you have seen and the wonderful and unique experiences you have lived and the history you have been a part of both of the United States and of other nations. It is now time for you to work on putting this legacy together! I look forward to reading and seeing all that is locked up there inside your head!
    Love,
    Janice
