Hello everyone,
Made it in one piece. I had my alarm set for 3:00 A. M. but woke up at 2:45 and got up finished loading the car and was on the road by 3:30. At home there was a slight covering of snow and with snow showers. he road was clear but very wet. About half way to Columbus I ran out of the snow and the road was dry until about 30 minutes east of Columbus. From there to here it was snow showers or heavy snow. I ate breakfast at Bob Evans in Washington, Pennsylvania. The roads stayed wet but not slick. Just after the last tunnel in Pennsylvania the snow turned to rain with the temp between 31 and 33. I had lunch at the Cumberland Travel Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The road was very wet but not slick. The temp was just right for ice build up on the car. By the time I got to the New Jersey Turnpike it had warmed up to 35 to 38 and all of the ice melted off and the rain continued. I arrived at Joyces' at 4:30. Got the car unloaded and saw Cassidy Marie. She gave me a big smile. The traffic on Long Island was terrible. From just over the bridge from Staten Island, N. Y. to Joyces' GPS was estimating 60 minutes delay on top of the normal driving time.
It has been a long day so I will be going to bed pretty early.
Remember God loves you and so do I. Let me wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and I encourage you to take a few moments and just think of the things you have to be thankful for.

Eisenhower Museum, Abilene, Kansas, Sep. 8, 2013
Today is September 8, 2013 and I had my continental breakfast at the Comfort Inn in Limon, Colorado. Today I have to drive roughly 290 miles to Abilene, Kansas to take a look at the Eisenhower Center which consists of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, his home, the Chapel in which he is buried and the grounds. It is going to be another hot day because very early this morning it is already 85 degrees. Interstate 70 is basically straight throughout this area of rolling prairie devoted primarily to raising grain and cattle. Small towns along the highway every few miles and at everyone you can count on seeing at least one very large elevator for storage of grain with a rail spur to it for shipment of the grain to points all over the United States and the world. Beautiful country and driving east early in the morning I am battle the sun every minute. You will see an occasional oil or gas pumping rig and electric generating windmills. When I arrived at the Eisenhower Center I stopped at the visitor center and bought a few items. When I entered the visitors center it was 101 degree.
Tomorrow I hope to tour the Cosmosphere and Space Center and the brochure suggest 2 - 4 hours to see it but my way of looking at these facilities I would Say it will take me a a lot longer. Also there is an active salt mine that is 650 feet under ground I would like to tour it. I checked the salt mine web site and discovered they are closed on Mondays for visits and tours. When I am finished with the Cosmosphere and Space Center I will head to Jamie's in Tulsa. Does places being closed on Mondays have a familiar ring?
OK, I will close for now but remember that God loves you and so do I.
Today's Comment: " Know yea not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? " 1 Corinthians 3:16.

One Son Died At 10 Months Of Age From Diphtheria. At That Time The Property Consisted Of 2 1/2 To 3 Acres On Which Was The House, Barn And Other Buildings. There Was A Garden, Fruit Trees And Strawberry Patch. Over Time Additional Rooms Were Added. The Abilene Train Depot Was Near By. Dwight's Mother Lived In The House Until She Died In 1946. When Dwight's Mother Died The House Was Left As It Was With All The Original Furniture and The Boys Donated The Home to The Eisenhower Foundation. In The Following Photograph You Will See The House As It Was Except In Some Instances Furniture May Have Been Move To Provide A Way For Tourist To Pass Through The House.

Next is a look at the Eisenhower Museum. I want to point out that many of the exhibits are behind glass or are back lighted which make it difficult to get a clear photograph. Also with the exhibits enclosed in glass there is almost always a reflection of the exhibit behind where I am standing. This makes many of the photographs confusing and in some instances was so distracting that i did not photograph some exhibits. So with that disclaimer lets tour the museum.

I really enjoyed the Eisenhower Museum and Library and President Eisenhower was a man I greatly admired. The overall setup of the facility is very impressive and is well maintained. I mentioned the heat when I came out of the Library well when I got ready to leave the area got to the car which was parked in the sun the car registered 114 degrees. I drove though some beautiful farm land to Newton, Kansas to spend the night. Tonight I am staying in a Best Western, Red Coach Inn in Newton, Kansas just a few miles north of Hutchinson, Kansas. Temperature wise the temperature had gone down to a comfortable 105 at 6:00 P. M. I found an Apple bee's Restaurant nearby and had a berry and baby spinach salad which was delicious.
OK, I will close for now but remember that God loves you and so do I.
