Today is September 4, 2013 and Janice and I had our continental breakfast at the Best Western Hotel in Simi Valley, California. After checking out we headed for the Richard Milhous Nixon, Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California which was several miles away and worse of all we had to hit the busiest time of the days traffic. It was miserable. I told Janice I hadn't driven in traffic like this since I left New York City .President Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 at Yorba Linda on the site which became his library and museum and he became the 37th President Of the United States. He died in New York, New York April 22, 1994. Now lets look at some information about the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum.

You Can See From The Previous Several Photographs The East Room ( The Most Grand In The White House ) Has been Used For Just About Everything But Still It Retains Its Grandeur. It Is Hard To Look At This East Room In The Nixon Museum And Not Feel Like You Are Actually In The White House. At The Museum This Room Is Also Used For All Sort Of Events And In Fact Can Be Rented For Weddings, Receptions And Various Events. In Fact While Janice And I Were There One Of The Museum Staff Was Talking To A Group About Renting The Room For A Wedding. I Moved Over Closer To Hear Hoping To Get Some Idea About The Cost. I Did Not Hear That But All I Heard Was A Listing Of The Restrictions Which Would Make It Hard To Rent The Place. To Give You An Idea Of Some Of The Things You Would Have To Do Was Put A Protective Covering Over The Floor And Barrier Would Have To Be Put Up Around The Room To Keep Furniture And People A Few Feet Away From The Walls. I Can't Imagine The Cost.

I came out of the library and museum with the feeling that I could not really describe. President Nixon was a brilliant man who excelled in diplomatic negotiations and did some great things for the United States and was assured of greatness until Watergate.The museum presents the Watergate affair and the dirty tricks very straight forward. It is just hard to understand the thought process that led to these terrible mistakes and very honestly were carried out in a very amateurish manner. Was he so afraid of not winning the election that he felt he had to resort to these tactics or was that the thought process of his staff and advisers. The other thing that is frightening is the attempt to use other federal agencies to help carry out some of these tactics. I can only say that the old saying about power is certainly true here. Power corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I did it again, the camera battery ran out of power and I lost a few photographs such as the photographs of the Presidential helicopter that was used by Nixon and several other presidents. In fact it was the the one you will recall seeing him board leaving the White House upon his resignation as president and standing in the doorway giving a big wave.

Janice and I were getting tired and we started trying to figure out where we would spend the night. Our plans for tomorrow was to drive to Midland , California and look at the Abraham Lincoln Shrive. We knew that it was not open but we wanted to just see the outside and take a few photographs. We stayed at the Best Western Hotel in Moreno, California. After checking in we ate dinner at Margaritas Grill And Restaurant in Moreno, California.

So until tomorrow as I say always remember that God loves you and so do I.
