President William Henry Harrison, Presidential Home

Left about 6:15 this morning en route to Vincennes, Indiana to visit the President William Henry Harrison Home which is known as Grouseland. Had a couple of interesting events happen which were no fun. I was driving along just fine and as I got to the critical turns in Louisville, KY my GPS shut down saying the battery was totally discharged. I could not understand this since it was hooked up. I have traveled this direction before but was not sure which way to go. Eventually I found a place  where I could get off the road I found that although the GPS was hooked up it was not making connection. Finally I got it connected and took off again. It was a beautiful drive since much of the route goes by the Hoosier National Forrest and many of the trees were really turning colors. I found the Harrison Home and entered and was told that no photographs were permitted. I was told I could take pictures outside but not inside. I explained that I do a blog and that the photographs tell 90 % of the story and if I could not take photographs I had no interest in going through the home. They said they were sorry so I said good bye. The following are a few photographs out side the Mansion.

For more information about President William Henry Harrison see my blog on Harrison dated 8/31/2014 which covers my daughter Patricia and my visit to Harrison historic site in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Interesting is the fact that most of Harrison's contribution to the nation was before he became President since he died shortly after becoming president.

Upon leaving Vincennes, Indiana I decided to skip my plans to back track to Indianapolis and headed for West Branch, Iowa. Tonight I am staying in a Travelodge about 5 miles from West Branch, Iowa and will visit President Herbert Hoover Library & Museum tomorrow.

Remember that God loves you so much that he sent His Son Jesus to live a sinless life
and to die on the cross for each of us so that if we will confess our sins and receive him
as our saviour we will live with Him in Heaven for ever and I also love you.

  1. Too bad about your GPS. It's a great time of year to travel and see the colors. I hope Hoovers place turns out to be great. Enjoy your trip.
