Thanksgiving, Baldwin, New York, Nov. 28, 2013

Today is November 26, 2013 the day I will drive to Baldwin, New York to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter Joyce and her family. I had my alarm set for 3:00 A. M. because I wanted to be on the road by 4:00 A. M. as I wanted to be ahead of the storm that is coming in but I woke up at 2:45 and got up finished loading the car and was on the road by 3:30. At home there was a slight covering of snow and with snow showers. The road was clear but very wet. About half way to Columbus, Ohio I ran out of the snow and the road was dry until about 30 minutes east of Columbus. From there to here it was snow showers or heavy snow. I ate breakfast at Bob Evans in Washington, Pennsylvania this is just a few miles from where I get onto the Pennsylvania Turn Pike. The roads stayed wet but not slick. Just after the last tunnel in Pennsylvania the snow turned to rain with the temperature hovering between 31 and 33. I had lunch at the Cumberland Travel Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The road was very wet but not slick. The temp was just right for ice build up on the car. By the time I got to the New Jersey Turnpike it had warmed up to 35 to 38 and all of the ice melted off the car and the rain continued. It was interesting as the ice melted off the mirrors and front end of the car pieces would fly back against the wind shield and that would startle me every time because I had no way of knowing when it would happen. I arrived at Joyces' at 4:30. I was just staying at the front edge of the storm as it moved east. Got the car unloaded and saw Cassidy Marie. Joyce was baby sitting her. She gave me a big smile. She is such an angle. The traffic on Long Island was terrible as is to be expected most anytime. From just over the bridge from Staten Island, N. Y. to Joyces' GPS was estimating 60 minutes delay on top of the normal driving time but I made it in one piece.

Enjoyed a wonderful restful night of sleep and woke up ready to tackle the day November 27. Joyce and I went grocery shopping and bought all sort of goodies for the Thanksgiving Day feast. We watched a some football games, watched some Christmas programs and listened to Christmas music.

Another restful night and woke up Thanksgiving Day morning rested and ready for another day that the Lord has given me. I assisted Joyce around the kitchen as much as I could and mainly just tried to stay out of the way as she prepared the feast.

Food Placed On The Table As It Is Prepared. My Job Was To Carry The Snacks To The Table and To Be The Quality Control Person. In Other Words To Sample Each Dish To See If It Was Up To Standards. And You Know To Do This You Have
To Taste Each Item More Than Once To Make Sure. I Am An Expert At This

Joyce Set A Beautiful Table With Turkey, Ham, Green Beans, Artichokes,
Cranberries and Sauce, Giblet Gravy, Green Salad, One Cup Salad, Green
Mold Salad ( Also Known As Grandma Green Goop, Lime Pear Salad And Green Slime Salad ) What Ever You Call It  It Is Delicious And Later More Pies Than You Can Imagine. Did You Ever Wonder Why They Call It One Cup Salad. It Is Simple Because Every Thing You Put Into It You Use One Cup Full Of It. I Won't Try To Explain Why They Call The Other Salad The Green Mold Except That One Of The Key Ingredients Is Lime Green Jello. It Is Time To Pause For A Few Moment And Thank The Lord For All That He Has Done And Provided For Us And Above All
Else For Sending His Son Jesus To Die On The Cross To Redeem Us From Our Sins And All We Have To Do Is Accept This Precious Gift.
Of Course The Birds Have To Have A Feast Also And They Abuse Lady Blue By Sitting On Top Of Her And Dropping All sorts Of Seeds On Her As They Fly Back

Tickles When They Sit On Her.

The Day was topped off by eating dessert and watching more football. It has been a marvelous day and as always I want you to remember God loves you and so do I,

Comment: " Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. " Psalms 100: 1 - 5.

Lord we do praise you and give thanks to you.
